Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees Talks "Hip" New Male Stripper Show, Working With "Shredded" Hunks

Source

It is 98 Degrees and Rising! Boy band member Jeff Timmons has a new on-stage gig as the shirtless host of Men of the Strip as the show tours the country. "For guys and girls alike, it's just an entertaining show. It's funny!" Timmons tells Us Weekly about the hot male revue he co-created with choreographer Glenn Douglas Packard.

Timmons, 41, is no stranger to showing off his body on stage, having previously performed in the Chippendales show in Las Vegas. "I had a great experience with them. It's not like what everybody presumes about it, it's a really well-done, professional, sexy production," Timmons says. "I had some great ideas with regards to how we can make this show more modern, more hip, sort of make it mainstream."
So how does Men of the Strip compare to Chippendales? "[Men of the Strip] is still edgy, sexy and girls can let loose, but it's more about the production," the revue host explains. "It's a real show with lighting design and great music that we've put together. We're trying to make it a Broadway-esque production -- sound, lights, and amazing choreography!"

Even though the 98 Degrees guys, Nick LacheyDrew Lachey and Justin Jeffre, haven't made it to one of his shows yet, Timmons insists they are 100 percent supportive. "I'm always the guy that does sort of the edgy things of the group, and they're familiar with all that. They're very supportive but I don't know that they quite understand it!"

During the show, fans of the pop singer can hear him perform a few of his 98 Degrees hits in addition to his own music, while also enjoying other areas of talent. "These guys… they’re all over 6 feet and shredded to the gills!" Timmons joked with Us. "It's like, man, I have to keep up with these guys!"

Jeff Timmons dishes on upcoming Amway Center 'Package Tour' concert

Source

ALLISON WALKER: So what's your connection with Full Sail, Jeff?
JEFF TIMMONS: Full Sail's publicist has been a friend of mine for a long time. She knows I have a passion for the arts. The kids here are great. A lot of creatives. Just the philosophy at Full Sail University is amazing. I think it's the best kept secret in entertainment. Any time I can come back, speak, and teach the students some stuff -- they teach me some stuff [too] -- I jump at the opportunity.
AW: The buzz over The Package Tour is mighty loud. What did you do when  you learned you'd be touring with NKOTB and Boyz II Men?
JT: When I started 98 Degrees, I modeled the band after Boyz II Men. I was a huge fan of the band and we wanted to be signed to Motown like Boyz II Men was signed. We got discovered at a Boyz II Men concert. And you know, New Kids on the Block is legendary. Their track record speaks for itself. But to be with Boyz II Men, to sit next to them in the press junket and everything, I was in heaven. I'm a huge fan, so to be sharing the stage with them is a great, great honor.
AW: There's gotta be some kind of rivalry, no?
JT: I don't think so. The tour and the "package" spans three generations of music. There was New Kids in the 80s and early 90s, and Boyz II Men was mid-90s, and then we came out late 90s, early 2000s. So I don't think there was a competitive vibe going on within the groups, but, you know--
AW: Are you sure?
JT: [Laughing] Yea! I mean, everybody has a mutual respect for each other. I think collectively it's close to 200-million records sold. We'll all just happy to be, 20 years later, still in the business and still selling tickets and doing shows.
AW: Give us the structure of The Package Tour. I hear you have a 40-minute set before the headliners [NKOTB]?
JT: That's exactly right. I think Boyz II Men goes on. They have 40 minutes, we have 40 minutes. Then New Kids has the full show. Yea, we're supporting the New Kids on this tour.
AW: Any chance you're going to sport those old outfits?
JT: I think we're going to keep those in retirement - the spacesuits, the firemen outfits, the catcher's gear. I don't know why we wore those! But somebody told us that was cool. I think we're going to try to be a little more sophisticated this time around - a little more mature.
AW: Will we ever see you at gigs around Orlando?
JT: Well you're getting me the gig.
AW: I am. I'm working on it.
JT: You're hooking it up.
AW: I could be your booking agent.
JT: That's right. Booking agent and new manager slash reporter [laughing].

Catching up with Jeff Timmons: "Wired"

SOURCE
Jeff Timmons, the founding member of 98 Degrees, talks to Suite101 about his newest projects, such as his Vegas show "Wired," and his new album and book.
On Friday, June 1, 2012, Suite101 had the pleasure to catch up with Jeff Timmons, the founding member of the acclaimed vocal group 98 Degrees, who is recording as a solo artist. A Grammy-nominated vocalist, Jeff opens up about his latest musical endeavors, his Las Vegas show “Wired,” upcoming album and book, marriage, as well as his charity, Camp Kesem.

The Details About “Wired”

On June 29, 2012, Jeff will debut his new Las Vegas show entitled “Wired” at Station Casino’s Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Resort. It is sponsored by Buzz Buddy and it will feature Jeff with a live band and many surprise guest artists. This eclectic show will consist of a blend of dance, hip-hop and Top 40 music, as well as several reminiscent 98 Degrees songs.
“It’s my second residency that I’ve had here in Vegas,” Jeff says. “I am super excited about it, since it’s a little bit different than some of the things I’ve done previously. I will be performing with an amazing live band and it will consist of up-tempo songs in the mix, ranging from old-school R & B and pop from different eras, as well day some modern day Chris Brown and Rihanna material. We have two incredible vocalists that will be on stage with me.”

Jeff Talks About his Chippendales Experience

In the summer of 2011, he was also a part of the “Chippendales” show in Las Vegas, which he dubs as “one of the best experiences” of his career so far. “The show was very well put together and I had a lot of fun. I only emceed it and did not do any Chippendales dancing in there, and it sold out the entire time I was here. The crowd was great and I’m definitely going to miss this gig,” he acknowledges.
In February of 2012, he also performed overseas in such countries as the Philippines (in Manila), Indonesia and Singapore. “It was incredible since it has been some time since I’ve been there. We played with some other boy bands [A1 and Blue] that were popular overseas and we had a nice sold-our run since we were playing for stadiums of people there, where sometimes there were 10,000-12,000 people a night. It was nice being in that atmosphere and the energy was great!” he exclaims.
He reveals that the ballad “Whisper That Way,” which he co-wrote and co-produced, is his favorite song from his first solo album that came out in 2004.

New Book and Album

In addition to being a producer, singer, songwriter and artist, Jeff will soon be adding published book author to his list of accomplishments.
“I am working on a new book that I’ve been working on for quite some time,” the Ohio native says. “I have a new management company [that is called “Primary Violator”] that is just fantastic, and they manage some really great artists, and they found out that I am working on the book and they are pushing me to get it done. I am working on that, so it should be coming out soon.”
“I am also working on a new CD which is different from my first solo record and my 98 Degrees material,” he adds. “It has a lot of tempos on there, as well as R&B, pop, and some elements of hip-hop. It is really creative and I am definitely very pleased and proud of the work that we are putting together.”
He notes that in the future he would love to collaborate with such artists as Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Rihanna, and American Idol alumna Jordin Sparks.

Camp Kesem

Particularly impressive about Jeff is that he takes time from his busy schedule to help out causes that are dear to his heart. One of the charities that he is actively involved in is Camp Kesem, a college student run summer camp for children with a parent who has or had cancer. “We’ve had a lot of success with the camp and we are still trying to grow. My father is on the board of it, and it really means a lot to him. We are happy that we’ve been able to exponentially draw awareness to the charity, in an effort to help some more kids. It’s been really cool and one the best things I’ve done in the last few years,” he states.

Personal Life

“I’ve been married to Amanda for over a year and a half now," Jeff says. "I love being married and I have a great support system here and it has completely changed my life! There is something to be said about having a good woman behind you and giving you that kind of support that I might have not had in my career. Marriage has rejuvenated me!”
“Eating is the main factor in staying in good physical shape,” he admits. “There is always the exercise, and I do a lot of exercising and weightlifting and a combination of other activities. I’ve always lifted weights since I played football in college, so it’s been part of my lifestyle. I lost about thirty-seven pounds to get in shape just to be in Chippendales. I try not to eat too much, and I avoid sugars.”
Jeff concludes, “I have the best fans in the world! They are responsible for my career and there is not a day that goes by that I do not appreciate them. I hope they follow me on Twitter, and I always value their support and I hope they continue to spread the word about my music. I treat them with great respect and high regard.”

Jeff Timmons: We’re Looking For A New Date For 98 Degrees Reunion

source

98 Degrees fans don’t despair even though Nick Lachey set off an Internet frenzy making people think a reunion tour is off!
The hunky dad-to-be called off a summer tour because his wife Vanessa Minnillo is pregnant, but founding band member Jeff Timmons tells RumorFix exclusively, “You guys were right on about the tour. There was a tour and reunion in the works — however, timing is everything and we felt we just needed more time to put the right experience together for our fans.”

Jeff says “I’m honored and flattered that we have so many fans excited about 98 Degrees.” And, expanding on what Nick said in his tweet: “Never Say Never,” Jeff confirmed that the band members are working on finding another date for the tour.

So the reunion tour has been postponed, but not canceled. We’ll keep you posted!

Jeff Timmons Says 98 Degrees Will Reunite, Just Not Now

source
With just one little tweet, Nick Lachey broke a lot of hearts as he announced 98 Degrees would not be going out on tour this summer. But Jeff Timmons can help start the healing process, letting fans know that the reunion is only postponed, not cancelled. In fact, the group has been looking to get back together and do something ever since their last show over ten years ago.

“We’ve been kicking around the idea for a couple of years now,” Timmons told CBS Local. “We thought it would be great to go out and do something for the fans, considering how we abruptly ended things last time. There was no falling out. September 10, 2001 was our last true performance together for the Michael Jackson [30th Anniversary Special] in NYC. Obviously, 9/11 was the next day, so we all just stopped everything and went home to be with our families. We went our separate ways after that.”
After much speculation that 98 Degrees was going to tour the States this summer, Lachey refuted those reports on Thursday, April 12, writing on Twitter, “So psyched to see all the excitement for a 98 degree tour, but the only tour I’ll be doing this summer is at baby’s ‘r us.” The singer, who is expecting his first child in the late summer/early fall with wife Vanessa Minnillo, ended his tweet with the hashtag, “#neversaynever,” a sign that not all hope was lost.
Timmons says the group came to the decision to call off the tour the night before Lachey’s tweet. All four members agreed that it just wasn’t the right time. “Everything in the group has always been decided in a democratic fashion,” he said. “And that’s how this decision was made. It had nothing to do with anything or anyone outside of the members of the group. It would’ve been nice to do the tour, but things have to work out the right way for everybody involved.”
As of right now, an exact timeframe for a reunion tour is up in the air, but Timmons would like to see the guys perform again. “There were many magical moments regarding my experience with 98 Degrees both in the studio, and onstage. I think being able to deliver a wonderful performance and experience to the fans is the most gratifying thing. People from all walks of life understand what’s like to go out there and make someone else happy, whether they’re performers or not.”
As for new music, Timmons is also open to the possibility. “It’ll be interesting what direction we would go because we’ve all been creating music in our own styles,” he said. “I’m intrigued to see what we’d come up with. If that ever happens…”
And even though the reunion tour won’t be happening as of yet, Jeff’s calendar will be filled. He’ll be releasing new music in the coming months and 98 Degrees fans should also keep a look out for an announcement of upcoming dates for a Las Vegas residency. All details will be announced over at his website or on Twitter (@jefftimmons98).

‘I Don’t Think It Will Ever Happen’: Jeff Timmons Opens Up About 98 Degrees Reunion Tour

source
Earlier this month, millions of pop music fans were ecstatic when they heard the rumors that former ’90s boy band 98 Degrees was reuniting for a tour this summer.
Unfortunately, said rumors were quickly shot down by band member and soon-to-be-father Nick Lachey, who on Twitter wrote, “So psyched to see all the excitement for a 98 degree tour, but the only tour I’ll be doing this summer is at baby’s ‘r us.” (Nick and his wife, Vanessa Lachey, are expecting their first child together this year.)
So, what exactly happened to the tour? In an exclusive Q&A with Celebuzz,  founder and creator of 98 Degrees Jeff Timmons gave us a little insight, during which he admitted that any future plans for a tour seem unlikely at this point.

“I honestly don’t think it’s gonna happen at all now,” Timmons said, candidly. “If it wasn’t gonna happen now, it wasn’t gonna happen last year … Maybe it’ll never happen.”
“We had gotten serious about it,” he said, of the proposed summer tour. “So much so that a tour was being put together for us; a 15-city tour. We got on the phone, all of the guys discussed it, and it seemed like a go. And then not everybody wanted to do it, for various reasons. We make decisions collectively as a group; not one person make decisions. [Since] not all four of us were on the same page, we decided not to do it.”
Did Nick’s baby have anything to do with the boy band not reuniting? Not entirely, Timmons, 38, says.
“I know that it had come out that it was due possibly to Nick having a baby. I’m sure that played a small part into it, but I don’t think that was the main reason we didn’t get back together. I think that it was a number of things.”

Jeff Timmons Talks 98 Degrees Reunion

Timmons spoke exclusively with Celebuzz, discussing rumors that the quartet comprised of Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Timmons, would reunite with a tour. It was looking promising with the group meeting up several times throughout the years for discussions about giving the fans something to remember after a sudden split following the September 11th attacks in 2001. However, Timmons isn’t as optimistic for their future as a group.
“We had gotten serious about it — so much so that a 15-city tour was being put together for us, [but] not everybody wanted to do it for various reasons. We make decisions collectively as a group; not one person makes decisions. Not all four of us were on the same page, [so] we decided not to do it. I know it came out that it was due possibly to Nick having a baby. I’m sure that played a small part into it, but I don’t think that was the main reason we didn’t get back together. We had talked about it after that, and had a discussion, saying, ‘All right, well, we’re not gonna do this tour now, but we’ll leave it open.’ I honestly don’t think it’s gonna happen at all now. If it wasn’t gonna happen now, it wasn’t gonna happen last year … Maybe it’ll never happen.”
Timmons admitted the group’s priorities were mixed, only managing to put out three major studio albums in their five years together stating, “I think some of the other guys like touring better, I think some of the other guys like being celebrities better. When you’re creating music, you need to have all four guys on the same page.”
In addition to 98 Degrees, Timmons joined Las Vegas’ Chippendale’s troop for a month in 2011. The vocalist, who confesses that he’s a “studio nerd” joined forces with ex boy  band members Chris Kirkpatrick of Nsync, Bryan Abrams of Color Me Badd, and the late Rich Cronin of LFO in Sure Shot, a band that was designed for boy band defuncts which was featured in a VH1 reality show Mission Man Band.

Jeff Timmons on 98 Degrees Reunion Tour & Advice For One Direction (EXCLUSIVE)

Last week, Jeff Timmons spoke exclusively to Celebuzz, opening up about rumors of a possible 98 Degrees reunion tour this summer, and why he ultimately thinks the tour will never happen.
Today, the creator and founder of the popular boy band — who is incidentally celebrating his 39th birthday –  is giving Celebuzz more of an in-depth look at what life was like as a member of the group, his thoughts on when they disbanded after the terrorist attacks, on Sept. 11, 2011, and the advice he has for the new wave of boy bands like One Direction.
What really went on behind the scenes? Read our exclusive interview with Jeff Timmons to find out! Also be sure to follow Jeff on Twitter @jefftimmons98!

What exactly happened to the 98 Degrees reunion tour?
I think this might be our second or third year in a row we were thinking about getting back together and really, seriously considering everything. We got together last September, and the September before, and hung out. All of us are in all different places in our lives and careers right now. Getting us together doesn’t happen very often. So we got together, hung out, hit it off great, thought, “Look, let’s get back on the road, do some stuff, see how our fan base reacts. Give something back to the fans.” Our last time together was in New York, on Sept. 10, 2001. It was a very abrupt ending with Sept. 11 the next [day] and all of that drama and the tragedies that happened in new York. We all just kind of split off and went with our families and cut the last two days of our tour short. So we never really broke up as a group, officially, or had a falling out or any sort of thing of that nature. We thought, “Okay, let’s get back together, at least do this right, see if we can still vibe together, see if we can give something cool back to our fans.”
Are you still considering doing a reunion tour in the future?
We had gotten serious about it — so much so that a 15-city tour was being put together for us, [but] not everybody wanted to do it for various reasons. If it wasn’t gonna happen now, it wasn’t gonna happen last year … Maybe it’ll never happen.

Do you have any advice for, say, One Direction, based on your experience in 98 Degrees?
It’s gonna be such a whirlwind for those guys; they’re gonna be working non-stop, with interviews, recordings, performing and staying in shape so they can endure the vigorous lifestyle that they’re embarking on. The business thing is usually the last thing you think of. I would say to try to find some quiet time and kind of just go through everything and try to decipher everything that’s going on. Keep a hold of yourself throughout the process. It sort of snowballs. The more success these guys will have, the more people are gonna be poking at them and trying to grab them and take them in different directions. They have to stay focused and true to what the overall goal of the group is.
Do you wish that you had recorded more with 98 Degrees at the time you were still together?
I’m a big recording guy. I think that, like any group, different guys have different vibes, and different personalities and different desires on what they want in the business. I’ve always been a big studio guy. I produce, write and engineer records; I’m a studio nerd. So, yes. For me, I wish that we had kept recording forever. We had a good sound together. So, for me, yes. Some of the other guys, no. I think some of the other guys like touring better, I think some of the other guys like being celebrities better. When you’re creating music, you need to have all four guys on the same page.
98 Degrees became popular around the time of Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync; was there ever a rivalry between your group and theirs?
I hate to give a pretty vanilla answer, but for our group, it was no. And I think those guys — you’re all so busy; you’re traveling; it’s just a non-stop grind that you don’t have time for that kind of stuff. We crossed paths with ‘NSync, did some stuff with them in Europe, toured with them. They were great guys. I remember seeing those guys, going, “Please don’t let these guys cone on the stage, because they are just unbelievable.”
But there’s plenty of room for everybody. There are billions of people on the planet, everybody’s got different tastes, and there’s plenty of room for success for everybody. I think our mentality was just, we just wan’t to keep getting songs on the radio; we just need to convince our label to keep putting songs out. We don’t have time to say, “Well, we’re cooler, we’re hotter, we’re better looking than Backstreet and ‘NSync.” We just want what they’ve got: Song, after song after song, hit, after hit after hit.
Do you ever go back and watch some of the old 98 Degrees videos?
[Laughs] I sort of have a complex about watching myself on anything. Even when you hear your own music, you can always find things that are wrong. So, I don’t watch them too much. As of late, I have been watching them, though. My wife wasn’t really into 98 Degrees, so she’s been trying to catch up since we started talking about this tour and watching the videos, and I’ll sneak back and look at them. Some of the stuff is cheesy, but it sort of fit the time. It’s also something that I’m proud of. But, again, there are some strange clothing choices in a lot of that stuff. [Laughs]

There were a few tank tops, I remember.
[Laughs] There were a few tank tops. Because we were all athletic guys, they would encourage us to sometimes take our shirts off or have our shirts open. I know we were always very apprehensive about that. It wasn’t until we got out on the road and people were going crazy that we thought, “Okay, well this isn’t so bad after all.” We were just out here to have a good time. We never claimed to be fashion gurus or anything of that sort.
Did Nick’s relationship with Jessica Simpson ever have an impact on the group?
At that time, it was just brand new. It wasn’t like anything was distracting from the group. Jessica was on the road with us, touring with us. That was never a problem … I had a baby and, before I got married for the first time, I was trying to make sure that I could see my child and all of that stuff. I had more of a personal thing that was taxing on the group than [Nick and Jessica's relationship].
Do you still keep in touch with the group?
Not really. We’ve all gone in our different directions. Nick, obviously, has got that celebrity thing going on with what he does. I’m probably closer to Justin [Jeffre] than any of the other guys in the group, because he and I were always rooming together; the brothers were always rooming together. So I talk to Justin on occasion. And then, Drew [Lachey] I don’t really talk to all that much at all. I saw him a little bit last year in Vegas when I was out there. But other than that, no, not really.

Given the non-stop lifestyle you led at the time, were you at all relieved when 98 Degrees disbanded?
I think we were. We had been on the road for five years straight. There were two years in which we had a total of seven days off. It was non-stop for us. We did have some success, some financial success and, obviously, some celebrity and public success; it was very rewarding once-in-a-lifetime chance. But it takes a toll on you, mentally, physically and spiritually, because you get into this mode where you’re always working and you’re always “on.” Not everybody is always “on,” and so you want to make sure you’re “on” and giving everybody the attention they deserve, meaning the fans and the media. You sort of start to neglect things that are most important to you — your family, even the dynamic within the group. We were all so on the go, it was almost like we weren’t close anymore as friends. We had done all of these wonderful things within the industry, but we were all kind of in our own worlds and just trying to get peace of mind for 30 seconds. It was like, Wow, now we can go home. We can go sit in our house for a couple of days, a couple of weeks — whatever — and be with our families and pick up the phone and talk to our friends and just be normal. It’s in no way a sob story. When you’re in the grind like that, you sort of lose focus on that stuff.
Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block reunited for a tour and a CD. What were your thoughts on that, and would you ever consider doing something similarly with 98 Degrees?
I think there was initially some talk about us doing that. But I didn’t feel that we should go in that direction. I know that it’s been a very successful thing for them … Those two bands sold a lot more records than we did, contrary to what people think. We sold a lot of records. I think someone was saying the chance of selling 15 million records is a 1 in 45 million chance. Well, those guys have sold way more than that. They had a different kind of fan base than us. They had different kind of music than us. We were more of balladeers and mid-tempo guys, more of a vocal group — not to say that those guys aren’t great singers; they are all. But I thought, for us, it would really kind of burn us out really quick if we went out on a tour with New Kids and Backstreet. Their tour is a good formula with those two together. Putting us out there, we’re a little bit different than that.
Are you still recording solo projects? I know you recently released a CD for free on your website.
I gave an album away for free, because I was trying to do something new and capitalize on the technology and viral sharing. [I also wanted to] check to see if I had a fan base out there. I gave an album away for free on my website to anybody that would enter their email so I could create a database of fans, and collected over a million email addresses. That was with really no marketing, no press; that was all viral. So I’m pretty confident that there are fans out there. I’m still recording and writing music and doing all of that stuff. I never stoppedf.
Would you like to one day record with 98 Degrees?
I would love to get back in the studio with 98 degrees, but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen. Some of us want to do music, and some of us don’t. We all gotta want to do it; we can’t be forced into that. It’ll come through in the music. So, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I would love the opportunity, but right now it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna go down.

98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons: Joey Lawrence ‘Better Strap Himself in’ for Chippendales Ride

I know, I know. That headline is what she said. But children of the 1980s: Blossom star Joey Lawrence is about to strip down and take the Chippendales stage in Las Vegas. A rep for the 36-year-old actor confirms to TMZ that Lawrence will be performing in a special engagement at the Rio from June 7 to June 24. So special, that 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons, who also enjoyed a stint with the Chippendales, is looking forward to seeing Lawrence, ahem, blossom on stage.

"I think it's great that Joey is joining the Chipps," Timmons tells Hollywood.com. "I had some of the best times in my career when I was with them last year. What was supposed to be a quick hosting stop, turned out to be a 5-month, sold-out run."

Timmons also offers Lawrence a bit of advice. "He better strap himself in, because it's one wild ride!" he says. Say it with me: Whoa!

Are you excited that Lawrence will be shaking his money maker in that way? If so, forget the slots, and take your dollar, dollar bills yo' over to the Rio!

"Miss You Much"-ex-teen idols set for VH1 show

LOS ANGELES, May 11 (UPI) -- Former teen idols Jamie Walters, Jeff Timmons, Lark Voorhies, Jeremy Miller, Romeo and Jeremy Jackson are to star in a new U.S. reality series, VH1 said Friday.
"Miss You Much" is an eight-episode series that will give fans opportunities to see what some of their former favorite stars have been up to since they left the spotlight. It is to premiere in September, the cable network said.
Actress-comedienne Catherine Reitman will serve as host of the show.
"'Miss You Much' taps into our viewers' love for 1990s and early '00s nostalgia with engaging, positive updates on the famous faces that were plastered across the teen tabloids and on their bedroom walls," Jeff Olde, executive vice president of original programming and production, said in a statement. "Catherine Reitman is the perfect host, catching up with the idols of her youth with a grown-up's curiosity -- and a kid's geeky, yet reverent enthusiasm."

98 Degrees Star Jeff Timmons Congratulates Jake Pavelka on Joining the Chippendales

Man candy alert! Jake Pavelka, the former star of The Bachelor, will be honing his emcee skills as a celebrity guest host for a month as Chippendales celebrates its 10th anniversary at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas beginning on February 23.

While the sexy reality star will not be stripping to his skivvies, Jeff Timmons, formerly of the über-popular boy band 98 Degrees, has shown his perfect pecs on the Chippendales stage and has some words of advice for Jake.

“Jake is gonna have a blast!” Jeff tells In Touch exclusively. “The Chipps are wild and crazy, but at the same time, first-class! The girls get a little bananas, so we’ll see if he can handle it.”

Jeff’s limited one-month run was such a sold-out smash last year that it was extended for a whole summer. It’s a good thing Jake enjoys the company of women, because he might be surrounded by them for a while!

Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees Excited to Come Back to the Philippines

MYXph spoke with the former member of the 90s boy band, 98 Degrees, Jeff Timmons, to talk about teaming up with A1 and Blue on their Greatest Hits Tour this coming February 25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. According to him, he's been in the Philippines three or four times, and he can't wait to be back!

"They treat us like rock stars over there!" Jeff shared during our phone interview. "Everybody's so warm and greets you with a smile."

He remembers a particular visit to Manila where he had to be ushered in because of the mob of people. "It was filled with people," he recalled. "We felt like the Beatles!"

After 98 Degrees parted ways, Jeff Timmons has released a solo album, toured with Jim Brickman, appeared in a reality TV series, and has recently performed with The Chippendales for a limited run in Las Vegas.

When asked if he's still in touch with Nick, Drew, and Justin, Jeff replied in the affirmative. In fact, he said they just ran into each other during his stint in Las Vegas. Naturally, the possibility of a reunion was brought up. To this, Jeff replied, "Never say never." Though, it might take a while, as the four guys are busy doing their own thing.

For now, you can catch Jeff as he teams up with A1 and Blue this month, where concert-goers will be treated to some nostalgic music with Jeff performing some 98 Degrees hits.

Interview with Chicagopride.com

From boy band to solo artist to Vegas Strip sensation, GoPride.com interviews gay-friendly 98 Degrees teen idol, Jeff Timmons.
Jeff Timmons, former member of the multi-platinum selling group 98 DEGREES, joins Vegas' all-male stripping dance troupe, the Chippendales, for a limited engagement this season.
Starting tomorrow, Timmons will be performing as guest emcee and vocalist for the Chippendales show at the Rio Hotel and Casino through June 5th.

The straight, yet gay-friendly, Timmons said his gay fans were "just as awesome and respectful as my straight fans" during an interview in 2003 with GoPride.com.

GoPride.com recently spoke with the former teen idol about his journey from boy band superstar to "Las Vegas Strip" sensation:
RM: (Ron Matthew Inawat) What has your fan reaction been like since the news came out that you were joining the Chippendales?

JT: (Jeff Timmons) Surprisingly everything has been great! I thought I'd get killed with people saying it's cheesy, but the Chippendales brand is so well known, that it's been well received.

RM: When our readers go to see a Chippendales show, what type of performance should they expect to experience?

JT: Well, obviously I don't look like those guys. They're shredded hulks. But - I will be emceeing, singing, and who knows? Maybe I will flash a little skinnie skin.

RM: Yes, I heard through the grapevine that there may be collars and cuffs in store during the show! Can you tell us the titles of a few song favorites we'll hear during the show?

JT: I will be performing a few 98 Degrees hits and a new song. Can't spoil the surprise!

RM: You've accomplished so much as an artist in the music industry. Is there a larger dream you have yet to accomplish?

JT: Wow, thank you. I have a lot of major goals and aspirations. I would love to win a Grammy. Write and produce for major artists. Work with Christina Aguilerra.

RM: Where do you get your musical inspiration from? And which of your tracks to date is the most "special" to you?

JT: I love Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Joe, The Eagles, Journey, and many more. All of them inspire me. I love one of my new tunes called "It Factor." Folks can get it free at http://sharefuze.com/jefftimmons-itfactor

RM: What advice would you give for younger entertainers heading into the entertainment industry? What life lessons in entertainment would be worth sharing to those just starting out?

JT: Learn as much as you can about the BUSINESS side. It is the Music BUSINESS for a reason. Surround yourself with folks you trust. Believe in yourself 100% and ignore the haters.

RM: In an interview with celebuzz.com, you welcomed your gay following. You said that sexual orientation has never been something that intimidated you and that you were raised never to discriminate against people: "I'm just happy to have people liking music. If I have a huge gay following I'm totally cool with that. 98 Degrees had a big gay following. We would go overseas to places like Germany and go to a club that was an exclusively gay club. It's all about getting in front of your fan base and performing. I've never had a problem with it. I've embraced it. I grew up in a small town. Not everyone has an open mind about things like that. I was raised a certain way, and if I behaved any differently my parents would kick my butt."

Your parents were obviously a great influence on how you've turned out. (Thank you Jeff Timmons' parents!) In a time where bullying and teen suicide hits the media waves frequently, it's more important than ever to have straight allies like you - especially those who are idolized by many teens and young people.

What positive message would you give to young people who are going through those trials and unsure about whether things will get better?

JT: Again, thank you!

I would say keep your "faith." I am not advocating a specific faith or religion, just your own faith. Believe that GOD or the universe will make things better, and if you do, it will.

RM: So, tell us a secret that you've never ever shared in a previous interview.

JT: There was a very dark time in my life where I lost my faith. The second I got it back everything turned around for me. Life has not been roses for me because I am a celebrity. It has been a test, but ultimately I've been blessed.

RM: We just have to ask: If you were born a gay man, who would be your first man date? and why?

JT: Strangely, no one comes to mind.....

RM: Everyone on the net has seen your shirtless photos and it's evident you do some working out - so what's the most important aspect to your workout regimen?

JT: I've stepped it up for the Chipps. It's P90X, Atkins diet, and heavy free weights. I still fucking can't hang with these cats!

RM: So, If we were to see your life on the big screen, which actor would you like to play the part of Jeff Timmons in a biographical movie?

JT: It would have to be someone neurotic. I don't really know.

RM: Is there a special cause or charity you'd like to mention that's close to your heart?

JT: I have several, but my new favorite is Camp Kessem, a charity for kids with terminally ill parents.

RM: Is there an upcoming album we can expect to see? What do fans have to look forward to on the album?

JT: I am releasing my whole album for free with videos for each song. We are releasing the song in magazines and websites. You will be able to scan a QR code with you phone's camera and download the music right off of the page. Cool stuff!

RM: Thanks for taking the time to chat with GoPride.com, Jeff. Have a great time with the Chippendales!

Interview with Jeff Timmons

Jeff Timmons is a founding member of the platinum selling singing group 98 Degrees. He along with members Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey and Justin Jeffre have sold over 15 million albums worldwide and are responsible for such hits as “The Hardest Thing” and “I Do (Cherish You).” After the group went their separate ways, Timmons focused on a solo career and appeared on the VH1 reality show Mission ManBand where former pop group singers (*NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick, LFO’s Rich Cronin, and Color Me Badd’s Bryan Abrams) joined forces and worked on creating music together. Timmons is currently using new technology and social media to get connected to and share his music with his fans. He is also getting ready to join the men of Chippendales at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as the show’s emcee and special musical guest from May 12 through June 5 (Thursday through Sunday nights). TheCelebrityCafe.com’s Michelle Vaccaro spoke with the talented singer about his former band, new music, and his upcoming stint at the Rio.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: The New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, and even O-Town have gotten back together and created more music. Is there any chance that 98 Degrees will do the same?

Jeff Timmons: You know what? We threw out the idea for a while. Earlier in the year we got together and…I’m friends with some of those guys in the different groups you spoke about. I know they’re having a tremendous amount of success so far traveling and touring. We talked about it as a group…got together, discussed it, threw it around..but I just don’t think right now it’s going to happen. Everybody’s got their own things going on. So…maybe in the future.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: So you still talk to everyone else from the group?
Jeff Timmons: Yeah, I mean we’ve remained friends. It’s not like our group’s one of those groups that had a falling out or kind of broke up, on bad blood or anything like that. We were all friends. We kind of just had our run and kind of wanted to be with family and friends and do our own thing in the industry and so that‘s why we kind of just split up for a little while so…But yeah, I talk to them all the time.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: You were on Mission ManBand. Would you ever consider doing another reality show?
Jeff Timmons: I would if the situation was right. I was pretty reluctant to do Mission ManBand. VH1 had been asking me for years and years and years to do it. I kind of had a feeling that they would kind if skew the show to make us not look so good and it’s what they did ultimately, but...the four of us actually had a bond and had a great time together outside of the show. I mean if they would’ve filmed some of the stuff outside of the show, they probably would’ve had a pretty crazy show, but they had their own plan and sort of a script for what they wanted to happen. I think that if the premise of the show was right and it was well written and sort of had a cool message or reached the right amount of people in the right way, I would definitely do it again.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: Do you have any good stories from that then since you said it was a crazy time?
Jeff Timmons: Oh yeah, we had more fun…they had turned the cameras off at 11/12 o’clock at night. We had more fun after that…crazy times, people coming over, parties, and us screwing around and actually doing music. The show didn’t really revolve around us doing music, but we actually did music and nothing in particular, I mean the whole thing was great. I could give you stories, but you’d probably have to write another story.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: Is that why the group never release any music…because of the show?
Jeff Timmons: Well, no, I think that…none of us were really taking it seriously. I think we all kind of did it because we all had things we wanted to promote. When we got into it, they were talking about one thing, regarding the seriousness of the group and us seriously doing music and we were putting a record out and stuff like that. I think all of us were into it just because it’s an interesting, kind of weird thing. But when we got there and started filming the show, the show wasn’t about that at all. The show was about putting us in situations that tried to make us look uncomfortable, feel uncomfortable, and more vulnerable. It wasn’t about the music so we just said, ‘screw it, we’ll go back and do our own thing, we’ll make friends…’ The premise of the show of the whole show put a monkey wrench into the whole process of putting music out.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: Being in what many consider a “boyband,” do you think you have some training as to what the audience is going to be like at Chippendales?
Jeff Timmons: You know, I think the audience is just going to be an extension of what my old audience, the group’s old audience is. It’s going to be females. I mean the majority of our audience in 98 Degrees were females anywhere from 10-years-old to 42-years-old pretty much. I just think over the course of the past few years, I’ve always stuck with music so I still have a fan base. I gave away a record last year online in exchange for people’s email addresses and the album had over a million [and] two downloads. So I know that there’s still a fan base out there. I just think that they’re a little bit older now. Instead of being 12-years-old, they’re in their early twenties up until the late forties. I think it’s going to be the same kind of thing. I’m just ready to have fun with it. Anybody that knows me knows I’m not too serious of a guy so I think that it’ll be a good time. I’m looking forward to it.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: You’re going to be singing and emceeing. Are you just going to be doing any dancing as well?
Jeff Timmons: If you’re talking about striptease dancing…absolutely not. You don’t want the Chippendales to start losing their fan base and people start going in different directions… No, I think I’ll get up there and stick with what I know best and that’s just pretty much entertaining and having fun..

TheCelebrityCafe.com: You have a new album coming out. Can you tell me a little bit about it?
Jeff Timmons: Yeah, I had produced all my music myself. I do it with some of my friends. I have been doing production since the group. A lot of our notoriety didn’t come from producing, arranging, engineering records, but we all did that stuff. This record is kind of a little bit different than 98 Degrees. It’s got a lot of high energy, high tempo songs. Of course you’re going to have the ballads like we had with 98 Degrees, but we have a lot of up tempo dance stuff. I’m going to be releasing the music in a very unique way. I’m going to be releasing songs exclusively through different popular social websites and entertainment websites…a site like yourself. I’d like do a song with you guys and release it exclusively through you guys and through some very, very unique technologies as well. It makes it a little bit more fun and interactive. Every song will have a music video attached to it…and a high level one, an MTV ready one. So I think that’s going to be quite unique with this project.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: That’s really cool. Now, you like to stay connected to your fans through the social media stuff. You also use VMS. Can you tell me a little bit about that?
Jeff Timmons: Yeah, you really did your research. VMS is a new technology that’s very interesting. It hasn’t really caught on here in the States surprisingly. Some of the founders of VMS, they’re a Swedish group that I got connected to through an old producer of 98 Degrees… They met with me and said, “Will you promote this VMS for us?” Basically, it’s just video messaging. The fans can go to VMS, sign up for my channel. They download an app called VMS by Ironroad Technologies. They sign up and I can send them a video message and it’ll go right to their phone. And if they sign up, they can send me one back. I can go into my inbox and see…It’s sort of like a Twitter on steroids. Instead of instant microblogs, it’s instant video messages. I can pick and choose who I want to reply back in a video fashion. It’s pretty, pretty amazing.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: So are you going to release some of your music through that too?
Jeff Timmons: I don’t think that they’re capable of that…I can send a three minute video like that, but I want to make it so that the other technologies that I have…make it so…if I want to put…let’s say that you’re magazine was a real, physical magazine, not part of the virtual world. I could put a code in your magazine, people could snap a picture of it with their phone…I could do it on your website too…It could go right into the phone, but then they have the option to take it out of their phone and then stick into the computer and interact with it, with VMS it would just strictly be stuck into the phone. I think they’re working on the technology where they can take the videos out of your phone and into your computer, your iPod, your Zune, whatever.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: Do you have any other upcoming projects…well, you’re doing a lot actually… Chippendale’s, the CD coming out...are you going on tour?
Jeff Timmons: You know I probably would do a few dates after the Chips. But right now I’m just really focused on getting the music out there. I want everybody to come to the Rio, check me out. We’ll have a good time. As you know… I’m very interactive with the fans and hands on. I just want everybody to check the music out and if they get a chance, I released the first single for free at sharefuze.com/JeffTimmons-itfactor and all you got to do is share it. If you share it once on one of your social networks, you can download it for free. A lot of the music will be free too this time.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: Your whole CD is going to be free?
Jeff Timmons: Everything’s free. The whole thing’s free.

Will 98 Degrees Reunite For Nick Lachey & Vanessa Minnillo's Wedding?

Nick Lachey says the countdown has begun to his wedding with Vanessa Minnillo, but his former band mate Jeff Timmons says he hasn't received an invite.
"I would love to be there when the time comes," Timmons, who performed with Lachey in the boy band, 98 Degrees, tells RumorFix exclusively.

Timmons, who just accepted a gig to perform at Chippendales in Las Vegas, says, "I've known Nick and Vanessa for a long time ... I got to see their synergy and what their relationship was like last summer and fall/I just think they're incredible and I think they're going to make a great couple."
The 30-year-old is "just a beauty and a wonderful person to be around," he says.

When Nick and Jessica Simpson wed on October 26, 2002, 98 Degrees performed, but will the group reunite to perform this time around?
"I think it would be cool," Timmons says, "but I think sometimes you want to separate business from personal and I could see how he maybe would not want that to happen."

Exclusive: 98 Degrees Band Reunion Thwarted

RumorFix has learned exclusively that the band members of 98 Degrees were in serious talks to come back with a reunion tour, but the plan fell apart.

Jeff Timmons tells us when News Kids On The Block started their tour he, Nick and Drew Lachey and Justin Jeffre discussed getting back together.
"I think that now would have been a great opportunity for us to get back together," Jeff says of the boy band group from the late 90s famous for such hits as "Because of You," "The Hardest Thing" and "Invisible Man."
Jeff, who is 37 now and about to embark on a four week gig with Chippendales, says there's no bad blood between the band members, in fact he says, "We were like brothers ... we were very close as a group."
Jeff says the timing wasn't right for the group, Drew just signed on to return to the Price Is Right at the Bally's in Las Vegas April 19-30 and of course, Nick, is about to get married to Vanessa Minnillo.
But the singer still holds out hope, "Look if the opportunities not now, hopefully it will be later."

When did you first decide to team up with the Chippendales?
My old manager, Mike Caprio, is the PR guy for the Chippendales and he actually approached me about a year ago about doing it and I thought Chippendales? What do they want me to do? They want me to become a male stripper! He said that’s the old school Chippendales — you gotta come check out the show. A lot of celebrities are going and doing these shows in Vegas now. It’s becoming a miniature Broadway. Vegas has always been known as a haven for entertainment. I went and checked out the show and was pretty blown away. It’s a multi million-dollar performance in a $10 million performance facility and it’s a real deal show. Did the guys in the show take off their shirts? Yeah, that’s what they do. Do they strip naked and do girls shove dollar bills in their pants? No, it doesn’t happen like that anymore. They do musical numbers. It’s an entertaining show and it also hits my fan base, which is the female fan base. So, I was asked to come in and, not dance with the guys cause I cant hold a candle to those guys as professional dancers, but to come in and MC the show basically. I sing a couple older numbers and some of my new stuff, and get some new fans acclimated with my new music. It sounds like a fun thing to do.

Is there anything that you’re most nervous about in regards to performing with the Chippendales?
Well, those guys are extremely well-built studs. I’m just the guy next door from Ohio. It’s intimidating to get up there with them. I don’t know if I’ll be performing with them or exactly what they have in mind as far as the musical numbers that I’m going to be doing with them. But it’s an intimidating thing to get up there with a bunch of guys that look like the Incredible Hulk. Just little old me from Ohio hanging out with them. Although, I am really comfortable I my own skin, I think the biggest part of the whole thing that bothers me is that I hope people don’t get the misconception that I’m becoming a stripper. None of those guys in that show are strippers. It’s a very professional show like I said before. At the end of the day I’m excited to get up there and perform and introduce new stuff and get out there again. So, I’m not really nervous about any of it to be honest with you.

What has life been like post 98 Degrees stardom?
Well, I’ve been married before and I have two kids from a previous marriage, so I’ve been spending a lot of time just being a Dad. That was great — but I’ve never gotten out of music. I released my solo record on my own that was a very small project but made some noise on the adult contemporary charts and overseas it did pretty well. I’ve always been producing new artists, up and coming artists, and just been in the studio working on some of my new stuff. I’ve always hung around music and stayed with the music.

You also released an album that you put up as a free download on your website.
Yeah I did. I think at first people didn’t know what to do. I just wanted to experiment and see if it worked. What I wanted to do was put it up and everybody that submitted their email address would get a chance to download the record. I collected over 1.5 million email addresses in a matter of months. It worked out. I was nervous at first. People were asking why I was giving it for free, they didn’t understand. Here people are downloading music and movies for free on the Internet anyway. So, I figured if you cant beat them, you might a well join them. So, I gave the record away, had millions of downloads of it and got the music back out there. Now, with this new album I’ve been working on, I’m going to be doing a similar kind of thing. Starting today actually, I’m releasing the first song. I’m sending someone an email, blasting all million and a half emails. I’ll be sending a link. They can take this link and download the new song. The catch is, they have to share the link with at least one other person on their social network. So you can blast the link on your Twitter or your Facebook before you have access to the song. All that’s doing is helping me get my music to more possible fans.

The next release and subsequent releases on the album all will have music videos attached to them. Real music videos. So, every song on the album will be released over the Internet for free, virally, and with music videos attached. It’s pretty cool.

You talked about your female fan base, but you also have a huge gay following. How do you feel about that?
I’m flattered to have a following at all. The way I was raised, we didn’t discriminate against anybody. Sexual orientation has never been something that intimidated me whatsoever. Having a gay following, straight following, female following, alien following! I’m just happy to have people liking music. If I have a huge gay following I’m totally cool with that. 98 Degrees had a big gay following. We would go overseas to places like Germany and go to a club that was an exclusively gay club. It’s all about getting in front of your fan base and performing. In fact, my first solo show was for a Chicago Gay Pride festival. I’ve never had a problem with it. I’ve embraced it. I’m pretty sure everyone has good intentions, regardless of what they look like or what they prefer sexually.
I grew up in a small town. Not everyone has an open mind about things like that. I was raised a certain way, and if I behaved any differently my parents would kick my butt.

Are there any plans for a 98 Degrees reunion?
You know, we had talked about it for the first time in a long time a few months back, but we just couldn’t get it together. Everybody had different things that they wanted to do still. It’s still out there but I don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon. I think we have seen what New Kids and Backstreet Boys are doing, and they’ve had a fantastic run tour wise. It looks like it could be a great opportunity but we just couldn’t pull it together this time. But it’s not off the table. Just not right now.
